The California Community Colleges Technology and Telecommunications Advisory Committee (TTAC) advises the Chancellor’s Office on continued development and deployment of telecommunications and educational technologies for the colleges. TTAC held its last quarterly meeting on August 29, 2019, at which the following topics were discussed:

  • Digital Innovation and Infrastructure Technical Assistance Provider (DII TAP) Team:
    • David Kendall, Executive Consultant, Edtech PMO, discussed how the Chancellor’s Office Digital Innovation and Infrastructure Division (DII) has been working with fiscal agents and grantees to review the technology tools and services developed by and for the colleges. The DII TAP team is developing, implementing and supporting a set of consistent, centralized standards across the Educational Technology portfolio in Project Portfolio Management, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, and Data Management and Governance to help system-level technology investments work more efficiently for all college stakeholders. Kendall also discussed the Incident Response Simulation Workshop being facilitated by the CCC Information Security Center on October 30, 2019 at the Chancellor’s Office.
  • Adobe Sign and ServiceNow: 
    • Christopher Anderson, Chancellor’s Office Director, Management Information Systems, provided an update on implementation of Adobe eSignatures at the Chancellor’s Office, which is leading to increased efficiencies, cost savings, and a better audit trail. The Chancellor’s Office has also implemented ServiceNow, which will be used to automate business processes, improve and provide visibility into workflows, and serve as an IT help desk. A public facing portal is planned for release this winter.
  • Assembly Bill 705, California Department of Education Memorandum of Understanding (CDE MOU), and Chancellor’s Office Curriculum Inventory (COCI):
    • Marty Alvarado, Executive Vice Chancellor for Educational Services, Barney Gomez, Vice Chancellor for Digital Innovation and Infrastructure, and Raul Arambula, Chancellor’s Office Dean, Intersegmental Support sought feedback on how the colleges can best support AB 705 changes through a student-centric lens and build an infrastructure for continuous improvement. An MOU with the CDE is in effect, and an API will be set up very soon for more comprehensive data sharing through CCCApply, Cal-PASS Plus and CCGI. Additionally, more than 100 attendees have participated in COCI learning sessions, which helped refine the COCI’s current request for proposal.
  • Accessibility modules planned for release in the Vision Resource Center:
    • Laurie Vasquez, Disabled Students’ Programs and Services Assistive Technology Specialist, Santa Barbara City College, and Kevin Wutke, Content Manager, Foundation for California Community Colleges, discussed how ongoing accessibility is a core component of any equity agenda. A key part of that work, 16 forthcoming accessibility modules will be released in monthly increments in the Vision Resource Center starting in mid-November.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Sub-committee report:
    • Tim Calhoon, Executive Director, CCC Technology Center, Gary Moser, Chief Information Officer, Kern Community College District, Joe Moreau, Vice Chancellor of Technology and Chief Technology Officer, Foothill-De Anza Community College District, and Fred Rocha, Executive Director, Information Technology, Coast Community College District, provided an update on the work being done to select an ERP that best meets California’s needs. The sub-committee is currently evaluating two vendors that can offer a cloud-based, configurable platform through a shared instance.
  • Distance education guidelines:
    • Erin Larson, Specialist, Chancellor’s Office Educational Services and Support Division, sought the committee’s feedback on updating the distance education guidelines, how to incorporate accessibility, and answered associated questions. Guidelines were shared with the District Technology Advisory Committee (DTAC), which is providing feedback to the Consultation Council.
