Cybersecurity threats aren’t a question of if, but when for California Community Colleges.

Staying ahead of security trends is essential. IT professionals have access to top cybersecurity training available in the Vision Resource Center (VRC), which hosts 40 learning modules from SANS Technology Institute, one of the most extensive cybersecurity programs in the United States and the only one focused on college cybersecurity.

The VRC provides SANS content on several topics that will assist in advancing your understanding of technology, preventative measures that can be taken on your campus and related policies and laws. A sample of module titles include:

  • Data Security
  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Malware
  • Mobile Devices
  • Red Flags Rule
  • SBCC IT Security Awareness Training
  • Targeted Attacks
  • And more!

This specialized training is reserved for only IT professionals at California community colleges and is not listed publicly in the VRC. Professionals interested in taking this training or seeing the course list should speak with their college’s VRC administrator. Find your college administrator on this contact list.

The Vision Resource Center also has learning modules on cybersecurity and related topics developed by LinkedIn Learning and available to all California community college employees. To find these modules, log in to the Vision Resource Center and search “cybersecurity.”

In addition to training and learning content, the VRC offers a Workshop Calendar that lists free professional development events that can be open to a college, district or to the entire system. IT professionals are encouraged to add professional development webinars, conferences and other opportunities in their field to the calendar. Contact your Vision Resource Center college administrator to post events. To explore currently listed events, log in to the Vision Resource Center, hover over the “Learning” dropdown menu, click “Workshop Calendar.“
