Introducing DataVista: A Game-changer in Data & Metrics for California Community Colleges
The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (Chancellor’s Office) is proud to unveil its latest innovation in data management – DataVista, a data and metrics platform designed to support decision-makers across the state’s community college system. DataVista represents a significant leap forward in the way we visualize, understand, and utilize critical data, enabling college leadership, faculty, and other stakeholders to make more informed decisions that directly benefit students.
Replacing LaunchBoard
As part of our continuous improvement efforts, DataVista will replace the LaunchBoard platform moving forward. Although an official sunset date for LaunchBoard has not been set, DataVista will gradually take its place, becoming the go-to tool for all metrics and data analysis needs.
What is New with DataVista?
Although DataVista will maintain the same robust data and sources that stakeholders have come to rely on, its new platform delivers these insights in an entirely reimagined interface. Users will notice a more intuitive experience, with data visualizations categorized into three primary groups:
- Reports
- Metric themes
- Single metric view
This streamlined structure will help users navigate the data more easily, improving their ability to analyze and apply insights in real-time.
New Academic Year Data and Future Updates
At launch, DataVista will provide metrics for the 2022-23 academic year, with data from 2023-24 to follow in early spring. But the innovation does not stop there–DataVista will regularly roll out new features and updates, including additional metrics that will be added through 2025. These ongoing improvements ensure that DataVista remains responsive to the evolving needs of the community college system.
Debut Dates and Webinar
DataVista will officially debut to the public on October 29, 2024. To provide a comprehensive introduction to the platform’s features and utility, we are hosting a free public webinar on October 31, 2024. Attendees will learn more about the platform, including how it can be leveraged to enhance institutional planning and student success. We encourage you to register for the webinar here.

DataVista has been developed in collaboration with WestEd, a leading educational research and development organization. This partnership ensures the platform is built with an emphasis on quality, accessibility, and relevance to the needs of CCCs.
